Odoo ERP in Oman: Implementation and Fawtara e-Invoicing Readiness
We implement Odoo for businesses in Oman and prepare your invoicing for the Fawtara e-invoicing programme, so sales, stock and accounting run in one system.
Oman’s Fawtara e-invoicing programme
Oman applies VAT, and its Fawtara e-invoicing programme is starting. A third-party summary of the programme gives this timetable:
| Stage | From | Who |
|---|---|---|
| Pilot | August 2026 | About 100 large taxpayers |
| Phase 1 | 1 April 2027 | Businesses with annual supplies above OMR 5 million |
| Phase 2 | 1 October 2027 | All other VAT-registered businesses |
Obligations follow VAT registration, not physical presence, so a foreign company with an Omani VAT registration is covered in the same way as a local one.
Status as of September 2026, from a third-party summary. Confirm current dates with the Oman Tax Authority. We check the position with you at your assessment.
What we do
- Assess your invoicing: invoice types, customers, tax codes and how invoices are issued today.
- Configure Odoo for Omani VAT and prepare invoice data for the Fawtara format.
- Test invoices and credit notes with your provider before your date.
- Train finance and sales teams on the new flow.
Beyond e-invoicing: Odoo for the whole business
- Sales and CRM: quotations, orders, pricing rules and customer follow-up.
- Inventory and purchasing: warehouses, reorder rules and supplier management.
- Accounting in Omani rial and other currencies, with reports your auditors can use.
- HR and payroll processes for your team.
- Manufacturing, projects and point of sale where your business needs them.
- Arabic and English documents and training.
Migration from your current system
If you already run an ERP, an accounting package or spreadsheets, we plan the move in stages: decide what data is worth migrating, clean it, load it into a test database and let your team check it before the real cutover. The same approach works whether you have five users or fifty.
Who this is for
Trading and distribution companies, contractors, oil and gas service providers, retailers, hospitality groups, healthcare providers and professional services firms in Oman, and foreign companies with an Omani VAT registration.
An illustrative scenario
This is a general example, not a specific client. A distribution company in Muscat issues invoices from two systems and has inconsistent customer records. Phase 2 of Fawtara is its expected date, so there is time, but not much. We consolidate invoicing into one Odoo database, clean the customer and product data, configure VAT, and run test invoices well before the date. The finance team is trained on corrections, and the company reaches its date without a rushed change.
